The Christmas tree at Tate Britain is back once again for the festive season 2010, and this year it has been designed by acclaimed contemporary artist Giorgio Sadotti. The latest in a line of innovative festive installations at the famous gallery, the Christmas tree on show at Tate Britain is an unusual Yuletide piece of artwork.

Christmas tree 2010
The tree is on show at the oldest Tate gallery in London in the run up to Christmas 2010. Free to view, the Christmas tree at Tate Britain is probably the most arty and conceptual one you will see around town this Christmas.

Artistic festivity
Inspired by the artistic vision of Giorgio Sadotti, the Christmas tree at Tate Britain has been specially designed to go on show at the gallery. Visitors can head to Tate Britain to see a modern take on a festive tradition.

A simple Christmas
This year, the Christmas tree at Tate Britain has been designed by Giorgio Sadotti, and takes the form of an undressed Norwegian Spruce with a bullwhip coiled at its base. The bullship will be used to drive out the spell of Christmas at a special Twelfth Night performance at the gallery.

23 trees
The Tate Britain has hosted artistic and unusual Christmas trees in its gallery for the last 23 years, and famous contributions have included Sarah Lucas, Gary Hume, Tracey Emin, Yinka Shonibare and Mat Collishaw. This year you can celebrate 23 years of the Tate Christmas tree with the festive creation by Giorgio Sadotti.

The Christmas tree at Tate Britain is on show from Thursday 9th December - Wednesday 5th December 2010. The tree is free to view. Tate Britain is open every day, except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The Twelfth Night performance takes place at 7pm, Wednesday 5th January 2010, at the Rotunda in Tate Britain.
