Classic Relief tickets are now available to have a laugh, raise money for Comic Relief and listen to some very fine (and very bad…) classical music at the Royal Festival Hall. Classic Relief tickets will enable London music fans to enjoy the fruits of Rainer Hersch’s fundraising idea, as he brings his musical and comedic skills to the fore to raise money for a very worthy cause indeed.

Poking fun at classical music
Those lucky enough to get their hands on Classic Relief tickets will be treated to a night where some of the world’s finest classical music is played, and mercilessly mocked. Classic Relief tickets will enable London audiences to be part of what’s set to be a hilarious gala comedy night dedicated to Comic Relief and affectionate swipes at classical music.

Rainer Hersch
Classic Relief is the brainchild of comedian and aspiring conductor, Rainer Hersch, who has been poking fun at the foibles of classic music for over a decade. His works include Why Is Organ Music So Boring? and What Do Conductors Actually Do?, and he's continuing by bringing that light-hearted and irreverent take on classical music to the Royal Festival Hall.

Amusing pieces
Classic Relief will feature some very amusing pieces, including Strauss’s Pizzicato Polka (conducted by juggling); The Four Seasons (abbreviated); Rossini’s Overture to William Tell (ruined) and a specially conceived waltz based on tunes from Windows XP. And the best thing about Classic Relief? All the money raised will go directly to Comic Relief, the charity that uses laughs to garner funds to fight poverty and promote social justice.

This Comic Relief Classical Concert takes place at 7.30pm on Sunday 7th March 2009 at the Royal Festival Hall, South Bank Centre. Normal tickets range from £10.00 - £60.00, whilst there are six Royal Box tickets available for £120.00.

Six other tickets will be available on the day for 1p each, but only to personal callers at the Southbank Centre’s box office. To purchase Classic Relief tickets please call the box office on 0871 663 2500 or follow the link below.
