Where

Bernie Spain Gardens and Southbank Centre

Whats On
South Bank will be alive with activity in the Coin Street Festival, with a number of vibrant events planned for the summer. Londoners can enjoy a summer of music, entertainment, art, sport and more in a huge series of free events and activities.

Pulse
The Coin Street Festival on the South Bank will be overflowing with the sound of music at Pulse, a huge musical event featuring some of eastern and central Europe's biggest music stars along with artists from CM Sounds' Art Party project. Performers include rap / electro-pop group Goldilocks and Gipsy.cz, a Czech group that mixes rap and funk with traditional Romany music. There'll also be plenty of food and music and dance workshops for kids. Pulse is being held on Saturday 14th June from 1pm - 7pm.

Celebrating Sanctuary
Celebrating Sanctuary is a unique showcase of talent from established and emerging artists based in London’s refugee communities, being held in support of Refugee Week. The event serves the dual purpose of highlighting the plight of those fleeing persecution whilst presenting an eclectic range of live performances, providing a platform for artists in London. Workshops will also be taking place for visitors to get creative on the day. Celebrating Sanctuary takes place on Sunday 15th June from 2pm - 7pm.

Bossa Nova Festival
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the cool beats of the bossa nova, the free Bossa Nova festival is another great addition to the Coin Street Festival for 2008. Both contemporary European and Brazilian artists will be out in force making amazing music and getting you up and dancing all day long. Headlining acts for the festival include Nouvelle Vague and Zeep, while Radio 1 DJ Eddie Piller will be on the decks and keeping everyone moving. Brazilian food and drink will be on offer throughout the day, making the whole experience totally exotic. The Bossa Nova festival takes place on Sunday 6th July from 1pm - 7pm.

Capital Age
A festival for the young at heart, Capital Age is London's largest free summer arts festival for older people. 2008 marks its sixth year, and people from all over the capital will be flocking to the South Bank for poetry, music, dancing and art from top older performers. The event will take place at the Southbank Centre on Friday 11th July from 2pm - 6pm.

Colombianamente
Celebrating the music and spirit of Colombia, the Colombianamente hits Coin Stret Festival for one day of music, acting, circus shows, dancing and marching bands. Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of Colombia with artists, craft stalls and authentic food and drink. There will be plenty of fun for kids too, with creative family workshops for all. Colombianamente takes place from 1pm -7pm on Saturday 20th July.

Thames Festival
The Mayor's Thames Festival is back for another year, with a huge outdoor celebration right on the River Thames. Celebrate London and the 11th birthday of the festival with street art, pyrotechnics, music, a carnival and much more. The festival takes place on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th of Setpember from midday - 10pm between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge.

Coin Street Festival events are taking place during the summer of 2008 in and around Bernie Spain Gardens on the South Bank, next to Oxo Tower Wharf. All events are free.
