This is an awful club. I have been to many comedy clubs and this is without doubt the worst.
The food is disgusting and over-priced, the staff are rude and they cram in so many people it's sweaty and stinks.
3 different tables got up and left the club half way through...
And the Compare is dumb and racist. He made about 20 unfunny racist jokes about a man with a slight afro in the front row. Boring racist stereotyping. After the show I attempted to give him some feedback in a very polite way, and he was incredibly rude to me. When I complained to the management they backed him and refused to even apologise!
The actual acts were average.
There are lots of better comedy clubs in London...
Went on 2nd July 2011, it was my 2nd visit , this time the Compare was very average, and the first two comedians also fairly average, the last one just about ok.
Food is not great, we had nachos with beef/cheese, but was frozen in the middle, and also our other dish - chilli was absolutely covered in cheese and so we couldn't really taste anything else. On the plus side the Champagne is good value at just over 30 pounds.
Didn’t notice problems with waiters - thought they were fine - okay there was a lady selling shots who seemed over enthusiastic to sell sell.
My first visit to C. Cafe was okay, and so came back for this show, but on this showing we would not visit again unless it gets some decent comics/compares.
in the comedy cafe last night.
standard of comedy was quite good.
staff were a pain in regard to the seating, even though we booked days before.
Also the table service was crap. they were either in your face alot (they must work on a commission of drink sales) or nowhere to be seen.
if they sorted that out and dropped the price a little too it is worth a look on a week day.
The Comedy Cafe is fantastic now, I hardly recognised it last weekend. They have clearly spent a lot of time and money on it in the last year and its got a retro feel.
The atmosphere and the line up was great, the headline act was a Scottish guy who brought the house down and the MC was extremely funny too. None of the acts were a let down.
The staff were lovely, there was a birthday party near us and they were let onto the stage for a group photo, we're were offered but I don't fancy getting on stage in front of a room full of strangers for any reason, better to leave that to the experts and show ponies!
The food is ok, I had a burger and it was as good as any pub burger around but nothing to write home about.
Seriously, a great night out - feels a lot more personal than the big chain clubs. Loved it, definitely going back soon.
I had my birthday party at the Comedy Cafe on a Saturday and a wonderful time was had by all. The service was friendly and the comedy had us all in stitches. Food was very good. I would definitly go back, I had a great evening!
Comedy Cafe is possibly one of the worst places for comedy in London. I have been several times and each time they try to cram in more and more people. The food is abysmal and leaves your clothes smelling like a deep fat fryer.
To top it all off, we turned up last weekend, dragged along by friends, and arrived at 8.20pm waiting for someone to show us to our seats that had been booked days in advance to find that they had given them away!
The place was so full you could hardly move and the temperature and stench were unbearable. This was then followed by some abnoxious and far from apologetic ape in a polo shirt trying to lie about the time. We argued long enough to get our money back as we had paid in advance on the internet. To be honest I was not that bothered.
There is nothing very funny about the Comedy Cafe. Go somewhere good like Jongleurs or the Comedy Store.
Comedy Cafe was fantastic, the place was buzzing. The staff were polite, friendly, and food was served very quickly considering it was so busy. The Comedy Cafe comedians were great. I would definetly go again! Highly recommended. It's great value!
Comedy Cafe is one of the worse places I have visited in London. The food is inedible and their fish cakes are so disgusting they should be renamed to 'potato cakes' as there is no fish in there.
Their bathrooms are disgusting, the ceiling is covered in spider webs and there is dust everywhere. If their bathrooms are like that, I don't want to imagine what the Comedy Cafe kitchens are like.
The comedians are awful, one of them managed to upset one of my friends some much she had to leave. He insulted her and called her 'f.... silly cow' and kept swearing all the time. Everyone felt embarrased and humiliated by such cruelty with a poor defensless woman that spoke basic English and could to defend herself.
This place should be closed down, it doesn't comply with any health and safety regulations.
