Conker Championships at Hampstead Heath

Polish your biggest horse chestnut and prepare to battle it out for glory at the ninth annual conker championships at Hampstead Heath. The area around the Parliament Hill Bandstand will be buzzing with activity during the family friendly event.

A game of conkers
A championship for all ages, the ninth annual conker championships at Hampstead Heath is part of the Heath Heritage Festival and promises plenty of fun for families and visitors of all ages. You can also enjoy live performances of Morris dancers and test your strength in the tug of war contest.

Playground favourite
Conkers is an age old playground favourite, so if you harbour nostalgic memories of fast and furious conker competitions from your youth, then get yourself down to the conker championships at Hampstead Heath and see whether you can beat the best. There are five age categories to compete in, from the under fives to adults, and the winner of each final wins a trophy.

Family day out
As well as the chance to enter the conker championships at Hampstead Heath, there's plenty of other free events taking place by the Parliament Hill Bandstand. Have a go at Medieval long bow archery, meet members of the RSPB, and even have a go at welly wangling.

The conker championships at Hampstead Heath take place at 3pm, Sunday 10th October 2010. The day of special events, including Morris dancing and welly wangling, runs from 11am - 4pm. Admission is free.
