I go here all the time. Great views. Good food. Full of bankers though like myself.

This is the real top restaurant in both quality of food and service. I visited first time with a colleague for lunch. Food was far better than excellent and I was simply in love with food and service. The atmosphere is nothing but superb as it is so open, bright and its wonderful roof terrace view. You can't believe that you are in the centre of City on weekday where tons of people are rushing to get the sandwiches and head back to the office as it is nicely quiet and calm. Service is definitely great, not too little, not over the top. Next time I took 5 of my colleagues for a farewell lunch party and they were all absolutely in love with this restaurant. Since then, we use Coq d'Argent whenever we need a place for farewell party or welcome party. I believe this is the best restaurant in London (for me) although there are many nice restaurants there.

I visited in a party of 14 on a very busy December evening, despite assuring us that we could have access to the outdoor garden and that they could accommodate us it was all rather slow and there was a private party outside so we couldn't use that space at all.

The food was only ok - lots of starters had sold out and the main courses took over an hour to arrive, some were cold and one arrived after everyone else had finished. In a cheap local cafe with minimum staff this would be endearing, in a so called professional outfit charging these prices this is most definitly not acceptable. I wouldn't go again even if it was on a business dinner with someone else paying - there is much better for the money out there.

I get the impression too many expense accounts in the area have given this place a licence to be lax.

Walking into Coq D’argent was like walking into the set of American Psycho. Lots of city types admiring each others pin stripe suits and comparing business card thickness.

Very stupidly I had not considered that an old Conran restaurant based in the city would be full of suits. So I managed to be the worse dressed person in the restaurant and the only person wearing ripped jeans. Unbelievably the very French staff didn’t make me feel unwelcome. The food was excellent and the waiting staff were very attentive. I would return but maybe with my bank manager next time.
