Head to the National Gallery to see the Coret to Monet exhibition London event, which takes a fresh look at the French Impressionist works of art from the gallery's own collection. Free to attend and featuring around 90 paintings from major artists, the exhibition displays many landscapes depicting idyllic summer scenes.

Coret to Monet exhibition London
Giving you the chance to soak up some sun drenched scenes whatever the weather's like outside, the Coret to Monet exhibition London event explores the attempts by the French Impressionists and their predecessors to capture the ephemeral effects of nature. Major artists such as Claude Monet, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, and Simon Denis will feature in the show.

Scenic landscapes
Charting the evolution of open air landscape painting, the work of the artists who so skillfully captured the fleeting effects of light and weather on natural scenery is celebrated in the Coret to Monet exhibition. London art lovers can gaze to their heart's content on views of the Picardy coastline and the suburbs of Paris, as well as iconic views of nineteenth century London.

Exhibition highlights
Paintings included in the exhibition include the 1840 work by Monet, pictured, titled The Beach at Trouville, which is from the National Gallery's own collection. Other highlights include work by the British born artist Richard Parkes Bonington, and landscapes by Theodore Rousseau.

The Coret to Monet exhibition London event runs from Wednesday 8th July - Sunday 20th September 2009. Gallery opening times are 10am - 6pm daily, with a late night opening until 9pm on Fridays. Admission is free.
