Celebrating 50 years of Corrie, the special events for Coronation Street at BFI Southbank include a special screening of the first ever three episodes from 1960, as well as a panel discussion.

50th anniversary
Marking the 50th anniversary of the hugely popular and influential soap, the Coronation Street at BFI Southbank events features a special appearance by series creator Tony Warren, who will be introducing the first ever three episodes that were originally aired in 1960. Watch the first 76 minutes of the long running soap and hear the story of the show's origins as well as the preparation for its first live transmission.

After the screening of the first three episodes of Coronation Street, BFI Southbank welcomes Tony Warren and a panel that also includes Corrie stars Kym Marsh and David Neilson, who play Michelle Connor and Roy Cropper. The panel will introduce clips from their favourite moments of the soap, as well as discuss how the drama series has changed over the years.

Celebrated soap
One of the first television programmes to try to represent the lives of ordinary working class people in the north, Coronation Street has become a firm favourite with the British public since it was first broadcast 50 years ago. The panel discussion and special screenings of Coronation Street at BFI Southbank celebrate a milestone in TV history and explores how the series has evolved in the past five decades.

The 50th anniversary celebration of Coronation Street at BFI Southbank takes place on Tuesday 9th November 2010. The screening starts at 6.30pm; tickets cost £5.00. The panel discussion starts at 8.45pm, and tickets for this event cost £6.65 - £9.00.
