Whats On
The Covent Garden Christmas Lights will be a stunning light installation courtesy of UVA on display from 17th November 2008. With a big Christmas light switching on ceremony and a series of free events taking place throughout the Christmas period, Covent Garden will be just as festive as ever this year.

Interactive lights at Covent Garden
Once again the Covent Garden Christmas lights will transform Covent Garden with their stunning installation. Crowds will be treated to a fantastic light display of hundreds of full colour LED tubes and three large chandeliers, right in the heart of the Covent Garden Market. The lights will be interactive, creating patterns of falling snow, that respond to passers-by. UVA are famed for their lighting extravaganzas and past achievements include Volume at the V&A and Echo at the Tate Modern. They have also been responsible for visually magnificent shows for artists including Massive Attack, U2 and Basement Jaxx so they certainly know their stuff and are as far away from traditional Christmas lights as you could possibly expect. The lights are certainly one eyecatching element of the fantastic wonderland that 2008 will deliver as part of the usual Covent Garden Christmas fun.

Song and dance in the Market
Covent Garden Market and the surrounding Covent Garden area will be centre stage once again for a number of live performances and events from 17th November 2008 onwards. Alongside the Christmas lights, Covent Garden will showcase various different live entertainment and cultural shows that are set to wow Londoners of all ages. So visitors really can expect some serious festive fun in the heart of Covent Garden.

Stunning Setting
The Covent Garden Christmas lights switch on will take place with as much fanfare as in previous years. The cobble stoned piazza is set to be transformed into a Christmas paradise by some of the world's most impressive light installation designers. This will then be the perfect place to showcase all the fantastic events that are set to take place in a true winter wonderland.

Festive fun at Covent Garden

From making your own Christmas decorations and mince pies to vamping up last year's little black dress, the Shop of Delight also sells all kinds of exciting goodies that will look just perfect under your Christmas tree. 2008 should also provide plenty of opportunities to get into the spirit of the season and sample yuletide fun and treats in lively surroundings.
