Headlining on the main stage on Saturday will be The Lightning Seeds, who are being joined by varied acts such as Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, The Damned, Rox and more. The World Stage features sizzling performances from across the globe, and there's also a Club Soda pop tent and bandstand acts to keep the crowds happy, too.
Croydon mela
The Sunday stages at the Croydon Summer Festival are given over to a celebration of Asian music, dancing and singing, with Jassi Sidhu, TAZ and Raghu Dixit doing their bit to entertain the crowds. Live acts on the ARCC Classical Stage, Community Stage and Bandstand will be all be doing their bit to bring a fusion of east and west music to the festival.
Keep the kids happy
There'll also be a whole host of activities for children in the Kids' Area, with sports, games, street theatre and a funfair where your little ones can burn up some of their excess energy. And to get them in the mood for a summer of free festivals, there's also the chance for kids make their own carnival inspired emphemera at arts and crafts workshops.
Workshops
Adults can join in all the fun with a series of music and sports events over the weekend, with the chance to have a go at a varity of games in the Green Village area of the festival. Last year, the workshop tent hosted crash courses in Afro Brazilian drumming, Bollywood beats, and beatboxing, and there's bound to be a similar lineup of exciting interactive activities at this year's carnival, too.
The Croydon Summer Festival runs from Saturday 31st July - Sunday 1st August 2010. Opening hours are 1pm - 8.30pm on Saturday, and 1pm - 8pm on Sunday. Admission is free.
