Cube in a Cube at Potters Fields

An unusual ice installation, the world's first Cube in a cube at Tate Modern, takes place in February as the Nissan Cube car is launched in wintry style.

Cube in a cube
Tate Modern is the location for a giant ice cube containing the cube car on the Riverside Walk as it melts away over the course of three days to gradually reveal the vehicle inside. Sure to be a big attraction for fans of the giant objects that continue to pop up all over London, the Cube in a cube at Tate Modern is a unique ice sculpture with a twist.

Ice sculpture installation
In another arty aspect of the Cube in a cube installation, celebrity tattoo artist Henry Hate has tatooed a tatoo design onto the ice cube. Showcasing his versatile talents and artistic skills, the renowned tatooist is using Japanese Samurai chisels to etch his own unique creation onto the surface of the ice before it melts. Get down to see the Cube in a cube at Tate Modern early on Thursday 9th February and you might be able to see him putting the finishing touches to the unusual ice sculpture.

Celebrity tatoos
Everyone seems to be getting tatoos these days from rockers and emo kids to middle aged businessmen and grannies. Now even ice cubes can get their own unique tatoo design, created by one of the best in the business, Henry Hate. Hate is renowned artist in tattoo circles and is even responsible for penning his workmanship onto the likes of Amy Winehouse, Alexander McQueen and Pete Doherty.

Interactive art
For anyone who loves to see the transformations take place in melting ice sculptures, then the Cube in a cube at Tate Modern is well worth a visit over the next few days. Not only will you be able to watch as the giant ice cube gradually melts and the car is revealed, but you can also have a go on the interactive buttons that light up various parts of the ice tattoo and the cube, creating interesting patterns and colours.

The ice sculpture Cube in a cube at Tate Modern takes place from 8.30am Tuesday 9th February - Thursday 11th February 2010 on Riverside Walk, Southbank.
