Whats On
The Cultural Olympiad Open Weekend kicks off four years of arts, cultural and sporting events in the capital and all over the rest of the UK that will culminate in the London 2012 Olympic Games. From large scale art projects at the Tate galleries to the chance to design an image for Camden library, there are plenty of exciting and unusual events to enjoy with the Cultural Olympiad Open Weekend.

Cultural Olympiad London
London became the host city for the Olympics with the end of the 2008 Beijing games and will remain so until the games come to the city in four years time. Celebrating the wealth of special events that will take place during that time, the Cultural Olympiad Open Weekend starts off the party with some fantastic experiences.

London venues gving out culture
Museums and galleries will be getting behind the Cultural Olympiad London events with the likes of the Tate Britain and Tate Modern taking part, along with the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Design Museum, the National Gallery and the British Museum. Live music and performance venues will also be showcasing their talented performers as events take place at the Southbank Centre, the Barbican, the Royal Opera House, Central School of Ballet, Royal College of Music, and the Old Vic.

Open Weekend events for all
From live music, backstage rehearsals, dance classes and storytelling sessions to mass singing, drumming performances, playwriting workshops and all night cinema sessions, there is simply loads to see, do and take part in over the Cultural Olympiad Open Weekend. Hear the London Philharmonic Orchestra rehearse their key pieces for the season; head to the Wellcome Collection for the Big Draw launch; learn how to be a Morris dancer with the Greensleeves Morris Men; or take part in a hip hop choreographing workshop.

The Old Royal Naval College is the location for a spectacular launch of the Cultural Olympiad Open Weekend with flame lit paths leading you to magical performances. An atmospheric evening of live acts and intriguing installations will culminate with the unveiling of the illuminated image of Greenwich as the Olympic Host Borough.
