The exhibition Cut It Fold It at Museum of Childhood celebrates the world of paper models this winter. Featuring nearly 200 different examples of architectural paper models, the show examines the history of the hobby from the 18th century to the present day.

Cut It Fold It
The Museum of Childhood gets crafty once again this winter as its latest exhibition invites you to investigate the world of paper modelling. Not just the vestige of architects and town planners, this hobby has a long history of craft with companies such as Schreiber and Micro Models making some of the most popular.

Not just for kids
The first part of Cut It Fold It at Museum of Childhood focuses on the use of paper models in a truly architectural sense, with creations used by architects or those made for adults. The exhibition then invites you to view a complete model town, made from individual paper models. Here you can explore which kind of models were most popular, from famous landmarks, to schools, shops, stations and windmills.

Get hands on
The final section of the exhibition gives you the chance to get to grips with the scissors yourselves, as the exhibits examine the ways in which model packs have developed for children over the years, and become easier to play with. Mixing up entertainment and education, the models on display may well inspire visitors to make up their own paper creations, and take part in the giant collaborative cityscape being built as part of Cut It Fold It at Museum of Childhood.

Cult it Fold It at Museum of Childhood takes place from 10am - 5.45pm Saturday 9th October 2010 - Sunday 9th January 2011. Entrance is free.
