The Da Vinci exhibition London event is set to be one of the biggest and most popular art exhibitions of recent years to take place in the capital. Focusing on artwork created by the Renaissance genuis during the 1480s and 90s, the National Gallery show brings together a fascinating body of work featuring both paintings and drawings by Leonardo Da Vinci.

Da Vinci exhibition
London has played host to many exhibitions featuring the work of Leonardo Da Vinci over the last few years, most recently the British Museum's Italian Renaissance Drawings show, which looked at artists such as Sandro Botticelli and Michaelangelo alongside Da Vinci. Now the National Gallery is devoting the entire Sainsbury Wing and Sunley Room to one of the world's most revered artists and creators, in what is sure to be a spectacular exhibition of his work.

Inventor, scientist, artist
Many previous shows have looked at the all round creative skills of the Renaissance Man but this Da Vinci exhibition London event sets out to focus purely on his talents as an artist. Inspired by the recent restoration of The Virgin of the Rocks, which is housed at the National Gallery, this Da Vinci show brings together the most complete collection of his rare surviving paintings in an unprecedented exhibition.

Court painter
The full title of the Da Vinci exhibition is Leonardo Da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan, which makes reference to Da Vinci's position as court painter to Duke Lodovico Sforza. Having the freedom to explore the full range of animal and human anatomy, alongside detailing multiple plants, Da Vinci was able to pursue the perfect representation of any lifeform, whilst striving to present an awe inspiring sense of beauty at the same time. With a wealth of amazing material on show the Da Vinci exhibition London event is sure to be a major hit with all art fans in the city.

The Last Supper
Many great and instantly recognisable pieces are included in the Da Vinci exhibition at National Gallery, including many international loans which have never before been seen in Britain. Alongside paintings from the Musee de Louvre in Paris, the Hermitage in Saint Petersberg and the Pinacoteca Vaticana in Rome, the show also features a near contemporary full scale copy of the Last Supper, which is accompanied by all its surviving preparatory drawings.

Leonardo Da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan, the Da Vinci exhibition London event takes place from 10am - 6pm, Wednesday 9th November 2011 - Sunday 5th February 2012 at National Gallery.

Tickets for the exhibition go on sale from 10th May 2011. Full price tickets cost £16.00, while children under 12 go free when accompanied by a paying adult. Senior and disabled tickets cost £14.00, while admission for job seekers and students cost £8.00.
