A Leonardo Da Vinci models exhibition is taking over the National Geographic Store on Regent Street this Christmas as the artistic, engineer and all round Renaissance genius is celebrated.
Da Vinci models exhibition
Bringing to life his amazing constructions, the model maker Revell has teamed up with the National Geographic Store to recreate a selection of large scale models, that will allow members of the public greater insight into the workings of Da Vinci. The models exhibition invites you to experience the wonderful imagination of a man who designed a working helicopter around 500 years before they were invented and get to grips with some of his more unusual creations.
Get interactive
Showcasing their new range of wooden models that have been accurately recreated from Da Vinci's own plans, Revell has also created 22 different large models that are fully interactive. Although the Mona Lisa is undoubtedly the most famous piece ever created by the genius, visitors to the Da Vinci models exhibition are able to see just how inventive his engineering side was, with constructions such as the Air Screw Helicopter, the glider and crossbow on show.
Multi talented man
For any fan of Leonardo Da Vinci, whether they admire his scientific brain or his artist's ability, this exhibition is a must see show. With the chance to get hands on with some of his fascinating creations, you can also see various facsimilies of his famous anatomical studies, drawings and artwork at the Da Vinci models exhibition. Studies on painting, architecture, mechanics and the human body made between 1490 and 1495 all help put into context the astounding imagination of a man who began to bridge the gap between medieval design and modern science.
The Leonardo Da Vinci models exhibition takes place from 9am - 8pm Monday - Saturday, 12pm - 6pm Sundays, from Saturday 27th November 2010 - Monday 3rd January 2011 at National Geographic Store, Regent Street. Entrance is free.
