An installation by Damian Ortega at The Curve takes over the exhibition space this year as the renowned Mexican artist brings his work to London. Following on from the likes of Celeste Bourgeois and John Bock, Damian Ortega invites you to view his latest artistic endeavour.

Damian Ortega at The Curve
Over a period of 31 days the exhibition space is set to be filled by the artist with brand new sculptures inspired by something in the media. Creating a entire piece within a 24 hour period, the sculptures will be inspired by a news story, a picture of some graphics, and will gradually fill up the gallery throughout the calendar month.

Calendar of sculpture
Representing a sculptural chronicle of the month's work, the installation by Damian Ortega at The Curve also challenges the notion of commissioning art, as each separate piece will be created on the basis of a different media story or format. As the sculptures count down the days of work, visitors to the gallery will be able to follow the story of inspiration based on the newspapers Ortega has read. During the last week of sculpture making, art fans will be given a rare treat of seeing the artist at work on his final pieces in The Curve gallery itself.

The Independent, the installation Damian Ortega at The Curve takes place from 10am - 8pm, Friday 15th October 2010 - Sunday 6th February 2011. Entrance is free.
