Damien Hirst at Tate Modern

Showing 25 new paintings by the enfant terrible of the British art scene, the Damien Hirst exhibition at Wallace Collection is free to attend and bound to be popular with fans of the contemporary arts.

No Love Lost
Called No Love Lost, 25 new paintings produced between 2006 and 2008 feature at the Damien Hirst exhibition at Wallace Collection. London art lovers who have already seen the artist's previous shows at Tate Britain and the Serpentine Gallery now have the chance to see works never before seen in the UK.

No formaldehyde sharks
While Damien Hirst is perhaps best known for his iconic Britart installations featuring preserved animals in formaldehyde and diamond encrusted human skulls, the No Love Lost exhibition displays only paintings by the artist. Although committing paint to canvas could be been as a more conventional and traditional art form, visitors to the Damien Hirst exhibition at Wallace Collection can expect to be confronted with the same trademark challenging themes and subject matter that have made Hirst a household name.

Memento mori
Displaying a series of works collectively known as The Blue Paintings, the exhibition continues the centuries old tradition of producing art which reminds the viewer of death and their own mortality. Flowers and human skulls emerging from darkness are recurring motifs in the works, which include two triptychs.

Display at The Wallace Collection
In contrast to the modern trend of presenting art in bright, white and minimalist art galleries, the Damien Hirst exhibition at Wallace Collection makes the most of the venue's ornate and lavish decor, which features paintings by Old Masters, porcelain, armour and silk covered walls. In this setting, the memento mori references in The Blue Paintings are brought to the fore, and put a contemporary twist on the age old preoccupation with death and the relentless passage of time. The Wallace Collection is also hosting two special menus and private viewing packages to celebrate the No Love Lost show.
