Dance Umbrella London comes to the city in an explosion of contemporary choreography and performance that’s set to wow both dance fans and newcomers alike. Boasting considerable credibility in the contemporary dance world, Dance Umbrella London attracts some of the most accomplished artists that the scene has to offer, so expect only the very best in what is set to be a highlight event on the cultural scene.
A festival of danceThis year’s festival brings a whole new range of artists, venues and spaces, as well as the longer term collaborations that Dance Umbrella has enjoyed over the years. London really is in for a treat as the dance community around the world comes together to celebrate the very best in modern performance. So expect to see artists from as far afield as Slovenia, China, Japan and Australia, as well as those closer to home. This diverse range of performers is what has made the event so successful in the past, and what makes this year’s Dance Umbrella such an enticing prospect once again.
Dance Umbrella highlightsHighlights this year include choreography and performances from some of the leading lights of the dance world. Mark Morris, Julie Guibert, Rodrigo Pardo and Tiego Guesdes all return for another year and are complemented by film screenings and talks from top industry performers.
Dancing outdoorsThis year’s Dance Umbrella London also welcomes Dance Umbrella Outdoors, with several free events being organised for sites outdoor sites around the city. If any of you lucky lot get to Baker Street then you’ll be able to see Rodrigo Pardo dancing in what looks to be an intriguing piece of contemporary performance that involves a toilet. In the second outdoor festival highlight, Compagnie Beau Geste from France take their Transports Exceptionnels all around London so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for that one.
