A David Bailey exhibition London event takes place at Hamiltons Gallery this summer as the world famous photographer exhibits his current creative work and looks back on his photos from the sixties.
Now and Then
In a two part show, the David Bailey exhibition covers new work created by the photographer in his studio, along with images from his heyday in the sixties. Whether you are a longstanding fan of his work or are intrigued to see what goes on in the mind of one of the world's most famous photographers, both Now and Then are definitely worth a look.
David Bailey exhibition
London was at the centre of the action during the sixties with areas like Carnaby Street and Chelsea being home to some of the most famous musicians, artists and fashion models around. Taking a look back at one of the most glamorous and decadent of decades, the Then section of the David Bailey exhibition, invites you to reminisce or discover the icons of the day, with images of The Rolling Stones and Mia Farrow amongst others.
New work
On show in the David Bailey exhibition London event, you can see the brand new work from this photographer as he continues to push the boundaries of his style Although David Bailey is best known for his celebrity portraits and fashion shoots for big name glossy magazines, the Hamiltons show present 13 new works, including large and small scale images of skulls and flowers.
Life and death
Despite having spent a great deal of his time snapping the most beautiful women in the world, David Bailey has a great passion for creating still life images. Here the Now part of the David Bailey exhibition sees brand new work, that conveys his thoughts about life, nature, beauty and death, through the motifs of the skull and flowers. Despite his reputation for fashion shoots and iconic portraits, these new images are completely typical of the artist, who has spent the last 30 years creating sculptures and photos just like these.
The David Bailey exhibition London event takes place in two parts with Now running from Thursday 10th June - Friday 2nd July 2010 and Then running from Thursday 8th July - Friday 13th August 2010 at Hamiltons Gallery. Entrance is free.
