A very special David Hockney exhibition London event takes place during 2012 as part of the Cultural Olympiad. Showcasing a selection of the artist's landscapes for the very first time, the Royal Academy is set to host one of the biggest London exhibitions of the year.

David Hockney exhibition
London is crammed to the hilt with fantastic art, cultural and sporting events for 2012, and the David Hockney exhibition will no doubt be another great addition to the London 2012 Festival. Inviting art fans to take a trip into Hockeny's artistic world, visitors are able to gain insight into the Yorkshire of his youth, as well as take a trip around several more notable world landscapes.

Yorkshire landscapes
The main focus of the David Hockney exhibition for London art lovers is certain to the be the body of new work created by him over the past six years. Having moved back to Bridlington in 2005, where he lived as a youth, Hockney has created a series of landscape paintings that depict the changes in season, cycle of nature and the variations of light throughout. Giving visitors a glimpse into the Yorkshire landscapes much loved by the artist, the paintings on show give a sense of intense observation and emotional involvement.

A Bigger Picture
Asides from the paintings of Bridlington created by Hockney in the last few years, visitors to David Hockney: A Bigger Picture will also get to see many other significant landscapes from his career. Including the likes of Rocky Mountains and Tired Indians, Garrowby Hill, A Closer Grand Canyon and several other paintings created during the 60s to the 90s, the David Hockney exhibition London show will trace the artist's involvement with landscapes and the depiction of space over the years.

New technology
Another new and exciting element of the Royal Academy exhibition highlights Hockney's continuing involvement with new and developing technologies. Showcasing photocollages, drawings made using the iPhone and iPad, and a series of films created using 18 different cameras, you can expect a stunning array of modern technological artworks.

The David Hockney exhibition, David Hockney: A Bigger Picture, takes place from Saturday 21st January - Monday 9th April 2012 at Royal Academy.
