Join skeleton dancers and musicians in a colourful celebration for the Day of the Dead at Wellcome Collection. This free event includes many of the traditional customs of the Mexican festival, including the chance to decorate sugar skulls and make an ofrenda, or offering, to the altar.

Mexican celebration
Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, can be traced back to Aztec culture and is one of the most sacred and jubilant days in the modern Mexican calendar. Celebrate Day of the Dead at Wellcome Collection and join in with the skeleton dancers before watching the grand processional finale.

Special events
Other events taking place for the Day of the Dead at Wellcome Collection include storytelling on the world of the dead and the chance to have your face painted. There's also a screening of a specially commissioned video which explores the world of remembrance with Mexicans based in London.

The Day of the Dead at Wellcome Collection takes place from 12pm - 5pm, Saturday 5th November 2011. The event is free to attend and there is no need to book in advance.
