Indulge in some creative daydreams while relaxing in one of the deckchairs at Royal Parks, when green spaces such as Green Park, Hyde Park, Regent's Park and St James's Park host deckchairs specially designed by British and Chinese artists.

Deckchair Dreams
Part of the Deckchair Dreams project which teams UK and Chinese designers to create out of the ordinary artistic deckchairs at Royal Parks, the colourful recliners make their debut in St James's Park before becoming available for hire in Hyde Park, Green Park and Regents Park. Over 700 deckchairs will be available to hire over the summer, and as it costs just £2.00 to use a deckchair for four hours, you can afford to sit back, watch the world go by and enjoy the sunny weather.

Spectacular seeds
Back for the fifth year, the decorated deckchairs at Royal Parks explore the theme of seeds in their artwork. Deckchairs include an image of a Chinese warrior made from seed and pollen grains by Rob Kesseler, and other artists contributing designs to the 2010 deckchair offering include cartoonist Ronald Searle, hat designer Philip Treacy, wildlife artist Simon Gudgeon and Disney illustrator Alex Williams. The deckchairs are on show simultaneously throughout the London Royal Parks and also the UK Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo.

Chinese artists
As well as all the high profile British artists contributing deckchair designs, the 2010 Deckchair Dreams event also features a number of Chinese artists whose styles and techniques range from traditional calligraphy to modern photography. Artists include painter and sculptor Wu Ching Ju, photographer and video specialist Qiu Zhiji and woodblock printer Wang Chao.

Charity event
As well as the reproduction deckchairs available for public hire in the parks, there are also limited edition deckchairs available to buy from £86.00 - £100.00. The decorated deckchairs at Royal Parks are part of a charity initiative from the Royal Parks Foundation, which aims to raise vital funds to help maintain London's eight Royal Parks.

The deckchairs at Royal Parks are available for hire at St James's Park, Hyde Park, Green Park and Regent's Park over the summer of 2010. Deckchair hire is £2.00 for four hours.
