Returning for the third year in a row, Deep Desires and Broken Dreams celebrates the best in classic and contemporary gay cinema during a week long film season.
Gay cinema celebration
Acclaimed for its inclusive approach and the quality of its programming, the Deep Desires and Broken Dreams film season mixes classic examples of gay cinema with cult titles, new features and premieres. Movie buffs of every sexual persuasion are in for a treat with a week's worth of screenings that take you out of the uniformity of the multiplex and brings you fresh work from some of the most exciting filmmakers around.
Co-curators
A new and exciting addition to the 2012 Deep Desires and Broken Dreams season is the use of co-curators, in which a selection of high profile gay figures have made personal additions to the programme. Stephen Fry has selected Derek Jarman's classic Sebastiane, Paul O'Grady has chosen the powerful French drama A Love to Hide, while Holly Johnson's contribution is the 1959 classic Suddenly, Last Summer, starring Elizabeth Taylor, Montgomery Clift and Katherine Hepburn.
Kink Crusaders
Highlights of the Deep Desires and Broken Dreams film season include the London premiere of Kink Crusaders, a documentary which focuses on the International Mr. Leather contest and explores the theme of male sexuality. After the screening, there's a special appearance by director Mike Skiff and International Mr Leather title holder John Pendal.
Programme highlights
Other screenings taking place during the season include previews of the gay romantic comedy eCupid and fantasy drama Judas Kiss. There's also films from around the world, from Peru's Undertow and France's Close to Leo and to Sasha and Coming Out, both from Germany.
Deep Desires and Broken Dreams takes place from Thursday 16th February - Wednesday 22nd February 2012. Tickets to see a single film cost £7.50 - £8.50, while double bill tickets cost £11.50 - £12.50. For more information and to buy tickets, click on the link below.
