Discomagic Brixton

As London’s club scene is slowly but surely ripped apart, it’s left to DJ bars to keep it alive. Dogstar in Brixton has been around for years and whilst bars have come and gone it’s steadfastly remained. Claiming to be the first DJ bar in the capital, they hold regular club events like the free Tuesday night favourite Discomagic Brixton.

Free Entry All Night
Discomagic Brixton is a weekly club night that gets the party started well before the weekend starts to rear its weary head. Every Tuesday night from 9pm until 2am (if you can hack partying on a school night) this Italo disco event pulls in an up for it party crowd. It’s free all night so if you’re watching the pennies you don’t have to fret about emptying your pockets just to step through the door.

Homer Rossi and Friends
DJ Homer Rossi leads the weekly line-up for Discomagic Brixton, offering his unique mix of sweet disco, Italo and electro futurist sounds alongside some pop classics. It’s a European-edged selection of tunes that were popular in the ‘80s - stuff to get your toes tapping for a mid-week night on the tiles.

Brixton’s Shining Star
Dogstar may be a DJ bar but it has a capacity of 600 spread across three floors that include a ballroom, VIP suite and main room that can only be described as an Alice in Wonderland style boudoir. During the day there's plenty of room on the sofas and at the chunky wooden tables to eat and chill out but as the music starts the tables are cleared to accommodate the swelling dance floor.

An Eclectic, International Crowd
Italo disco is a musical form that originates from Europe so you can expect an international edge to the crowd. Cool South Londoners from in and around Brixton regularly check out Dogstar, which is a destination bar in its own right, so the crowd is an eclectic one at Discomagic Brixton.

Discomagic Brixton takes place at Dogstar from 9pm-2am every Tuesday. Entry is free all night.
