Plunge into a nightmarish world this Halloween with Disturbia at Southbank Centre, an avant garde tour-de-force which combines the talents of the BBC Concert Orchestra, Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood, Aphex Twin and more talented musicians.

Music concert
A seductive alternative to the mainstream Halloween entertainment of plastic spiders and green-skinned witches, Disturbia at Southbank Centre sees the BBC Concert Orchestra perform a series of special works that veer towards the psycho-dramatic. Tickets for the live music concert include an eye mask to add an extra layer to the phantasmagoric experience.

Unsettling scores
Works of the programme for Disturbia at Southbank Centre include the one act opera La Voix Humaine by Francis Poulenc, based on the play by poet, novelist and filmmaker Jean Cocteau. The opera introduces the audience to a nightmarish world where a women's only connection to reality is via the telephonic voice of a former lover.

Avant garde music
Other works to be performed at Disturbia at Southbank Centre include Penderecki's Polymorphia, the avant garde composition for strings which has cropped up in iconic horror films such as The Exorcist and The Shining. Radiohead fans can also shiver at Jonny Greenwood's response to Penderecki's work, while more contemporary music comes courtesy of Patrick Nunn's orchestration of Nannou by Aphex Twin.

Disturbia at Southbank Centre starts 7.30pm, Monday 31st October 2011 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Please note that this concert is not suitable for those under the age of 16. Tickets cost £12.00. For more information and to buy tickets, call 0844 875 0073.
