Chinese tradition
Second only to Chinese New Year in the Chinese festival calendar, the Dragon Boat Festival marks the beginning of the rainy season and the summer solstice. Celebrated for the 16th year, the Dragon Boat Festival London event joins other celebrations across the world for this ancient and revered tradition.

Boat race
The centrepiece of the Dragon Boat Festival London event is the boat race between around 40 vessels, each around 30 foot long. Expect plenty of colour and rousing noise as the decorated Dragon Boats race through the water, each with 16 rowers and a drummer on board.

Family fun
As well as the chance to watch the race, the Dragon Boat Festival London event also features plenty of on shore entertainment that is bound to be popular with kids and adults alike. See the kung-fu demonstrations and lion dance and sample Chinese food and drinks at the London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival and celebrate the new season in style.
