Celebrate the best in children's TV from the 1980s at the Dramarama and Beyond at BFI Southbank season. With screenings of the single play strand Dramarama as well as episodes from other landmark kids' TV series such as Grange Hill and Press Gang, there's ample opportunity to take a trip down memory lane at the popular South Bank cinema.

Dramarama plays
Featuring a selection of plays from the unique series Dramarama, which was broadcast on ITV for seven years during the 1980s, the Dramarama and Beyond at BFI Southbank season celebrates a period that many see as a golden age in children's television. The 90 programmes in the Dramarama stand included everything from gothic tales to laugh out loud comedy, and featured one off performances by David Jason, Gary Oldman, Joan Sim and Pam Ferris.

Grange Hill and Press Gang
Alongside the screenings of plays in the Dramarama and Beyond at BFI Southbank season, fans can also see episodes of other popular children's series from the 1980s, such as Jukes of Piccadilly and Maggie. There's also the chance to revisit the controversial story of Zammo's heroin addiction from a 1986 episode of Grange Hill, as well as the first ever episode of Press Gang, first broadcast in 1989.

Season highlights
Dramarama episodes to be screened as part of the season include the first ever play in the series, from 1983, as well as the last, from 1989. There's also plays such as The Halt, featuring a group of football hooligans on a train, and Forever Young, a gothic comedy about a group of teachers on a weekend seminar.

Special guests
As part of the Dramarama and Beyond at BFI Southbank season, cinema goers can meet a series of special guests, including Dexter Fletcher from Press Gang, and Lee MacDonald and Erkan Mustafa, otherwise known as Zammo and Roland from Grand Hill. The special guests will be introducing some of the screenings and sharing their memories of the 1980s.

Dramarama and Beyond at BFI Southbank runs from Monday 11th April - Saturday 30th April 2011. Adult tickets for standard screenings cost £9.50, with concessions available at £6.75.
