A history of jazz in Ealing
The Ealing Jazz Festival first took place as a low key local event in 1985. From humble beginnings it has grown into the biggest free jazz festival in Europe, regularly attracting all manner of acclaimed jazz artists. 2011 is expected to be one of the biggest yet, with a string of artists ready to take to the stage in Ealing.
Live jazz
Highlight performances for 2009 included the Adrian Macintosh Quintet, Claire Davies, Xantone Blacq and Ray Gelato on the main stage. The Crypt stage also saw the likes of the Bar Tent Duo, the Chicho Chagas Quartet and the Hot Orange Big Band, all contributing to what was another fantastic Ealing Jazz Festival. This year you can expect a whole spectrum of jazz styles to be served up on a menu of top live music, featuring a who’s who of contemporary jazz musicians.
Join the fun
Jazz fans will not want to miss the chance to get involved with a toe-tapping, finger snapping live music event, promising something special for the summer. Dozens of acts will be headlining on the main stage and second stage, treating the crowds to a five day festival of jazzy sounds.

2011 is the 27th anniversaty of the Ealing Jazz Festival, heralding more than a few generations of jazz in London and the UK. Visitors can get to grips with what’s new in the world of jazz whilst paying respects to a rich history of music in London.
