Take part in a series of fun and unusual games at the East Commonwealth Games London event, which takes place at Spitalfields Market on Bishops Square as part of the EAST Festival.

Games from around the Commonwealth
You're unlikely to see any relay races or shot putting at the East Commonwealth Games London event, which celebrates some of the most unusual games popular in countries from all over the world who are part of the Commonwealth. The special event at Spitalfields Market celebrates Commonwealth Day and looks forward to the Delhi Commonwealth Games in October, and takes place during the EAST Festival which celebrates all things East London.

Get involved
The special events that take place as part of the East Commonwealth Games London event includes a game of bicycle polo, which was a demonstration sport in the 1908 London Olympic Games and still retains a cult following today. Other games and activities include the Asian game carrom, as well as the team sport Kabbadi.

Opening ceremony
The day before the East Commonwealth Games London event begins, there's the opening ceremony at Spitalfields Market to get everyone in the mood for watching and taking part in the series of exotic and quirky games. Keep an eye out for the big red bus on Bishops Square, and keep entertained over lunchtime with bagpipers, dhol drummers and dancers.

The East Commonwealth Games London event takes place on Saturday 6th March 2010. The opening ceremony with live music takes place the day before, from 12.30pm on Friday 5th March 2010.
