Easter at Kew Gardens is a delightful time as all the bulbs are in bloom and spring is well and truly underway. There is plenty for kids to see and do, and little ones will be kept happy and entertained with all the activities throughout the Easter holidays.

Mayan chocolate adventure at Kew
Unveiled specially for Easter is the interactive Mayan chocolate adventure trail which takes families around the gardens and through 3,000 years of history. Kids can collect crayon rubbings of all the Mayan symbols on the trail to unlock the secret password and learn all about the ingredients the ancient people used for their spicy chocolate drink.

Garden trail
Along the way, you can explore the famous Palm House and offer an origami flower to the sacred jaguar god in the Waterlily Pond. Families can also add a wish to the cacao wishing tree and make a mask, headdress or worry doll to take home as a special memento of the day.

Hands-on sessions
What with all the excitement of Easter chocolate, your kids will be more than happy to take up the challenge of the hands-on workshops and craft sessions. Learn more about the history of chocolate and get a taste of Mayan culture with chocolate making workshops, and try the drink that the Mayans invented. There's also Easter face painting and more craft workshops.

Easter egg hunt
Easter Sunday itself is the day of the Easter egg hunt at Kew. Kids can search around the gardens and collect tokens to be exchanged for an Easter chocolate treat, or head to the Temple of Imagination for a storytelling session. The Easter egg hunt takes place on Sunday 8th April 2012.

For more information about any of the activities or events taking place over Easter at Kew, phone 020 8332 5655. The events run from Saturday 31st March - Sunday 15th April 2012.
