For those that love the long summer evenings because they can spend more time skating, the Easter Skate Eggstravaganza is the start of those hazy days. With a whole weekend of special Easter skate activities for the whole family, this is one brilliant way to spend your Easter weekend and burn off the calories from too many eggs!

Skate away the weekend
Kicking off with the Long Good Friday Night Skate and ending with the Easter Slalom Showdown, all the events take place in or around Hyde Park, with maybe a few pub breaks thrown in for good measure. Whether you have never skated before or are a long time pro, there is something here for all abilities.

Good Friday Night Skate
Taking over from the usual Friday Night Skate, the Good Friday version heads off an hour earlier and takes advantage of the lack of traffic in town to take in some of the tourist sites around the city. Covering 15 to 18 miles, this is one part of the Easter Skate Eggstravaganza that is for intermediate to experienced skaters only, although you are welcome to turn up at the start and see how you do.

Bunny Stroll
The highlight of the Easter Skate Eggstravaganza weekend is the Easter Sunday Bunny Stroll. A fancy dress skating event where everyone, and literally everyone, dresses as the Easter Bunny. Or, if you are that way inclined, the Playboy Bunny. Around 500 people will set off from the Serpentine Road for a 5 to 7 mile roller stroll around the town, complete with long floppy ears, twitchy noses and music from their very own pedal powered PA system.

Egg and Spoon Race
With treasure hunts, skate patrol lessons, rollback skating classes and the final Egg and Spoon Race to close the Easter weekend with, the Easter Skate Eggstravaganza is set to be a truly unique event. The weekend ends with the Easter Slalom Showdown, featuring slalom and jump competitions that even beginners with a hangover should be able to handle.

The Long Good Friday Skate takes place from 7pm, Friday 22nd April 2011 and leaves from Hyde Park Corner. The Easter Sunday Bunny Stroll takes place from 2pm on Sunday 24th April 2011 and leaves from Serpentine Road, Hyde Park.
