BBC Electric Proms is a huge live music festival featuring a line up of star acts over five days in October 2008. Proms music lovers can celebrate the best in contemporary music in a unique festival event, kicking off at a selection of venues in Camden.
Star acts in Electric PromsA selection of top acts will be taking to the stage, ready to rock out in true Electric Proms style. Previous performers have included Jamiroquai, James Brown, Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx, Kasabian, Paul Weller and The Who, and this year looks to be just as impressive. 2008 boasts a stellar lineup with the cream of today's music scene being represented.
Who will be there?Musical genius and composer Nitin Sawhney will be bringing the London Undersound Orchestra with him to pay homage to the capital at Electric Proms 2008. Not to be missed. Contemporary Brit hip hop act The Streets will be performing live and new acts like Wild Beasts and XX Teens, will be proving they've got what it takes to perform with the big boys too as performances from Oasis, Keane and Goldfrapp take place during the proms. In addition to these there'll be a veritable feast of other live acts at this years proms so expect the brilliantly unexpected.

Where it's atVenues for the Electric Proms gigs are some of the coolest around, here are the places that will be rocking out again for 2008:
John Peel night2006 and 2007 saw a special night devoted to legendary radio presenter and music aficionado John Peel who was remembered during a night of live music. In 2008 Liverpool will take up his musical legacy with a special John Peel night that highlights more up and coming bands being championed at this year's Electric Proms.
Last year's Electric Proms highlightsHighlight from last years superb event saw Kaiser Chiefs play with David Arnold, and Mark Ronson perform with the BBC Concert Orchestra, both of which were amazing shows with completely different musical styles. For something completely different this year you can celebrate the 30th anniversary of Saturday Night Fever with a performance from Robin Gibb and Sam Sparro, and Burt Bacharach will play with the BBC Concert Orchestra accompanied by Adele, Berth Rowley and Jamie Cullum at the 2008 Electric Proms.
Film screeningsA programme of free film screenings will be taking place throughout the festival, adding an extra element to proceedings alongside the live music. Expect a diverse array of new music features, shorts and promos, exploring tracks from Roots Manuva, XX Teens and Wild Beasts.
Special ticketsLast year a limited number of exclusive £5.00 Electric Proms tickets are available in a ballot for certain acts, giving latecomers the chance to get involved at the shortest possible notice. You can see Burt Bacharach, The Last Shadow Puppets, Nitin Sawhney, the Streets, Oasis, and Razorlight for just £5.00, giving music fans have a chance to get in on the action in proper festival spirit.
BBC Electric Proms takes place from Wednesday 22nd October – Sunday 26th October 2008 at various venues in Camden.
