Star acts in Electric Proms
A selection of top acts will be taking to the stage, ready to rock out in true Electric Proms style. Previous performers have included Jamiroquai, James Brown, Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx, Kasabian, Paul Weller and The Who, and this year looks to be just as impressive. 2008 boasts a stellar lineup with the cream of today's music scene being represented.

Who will be there?
Musical genius and composer Nitin Sawhney will be bringing the London Undersound Orchestra with him to pay homage to the capital. Not to be missed. Contemporary Brit hip hop act The Streets will be performing live and new atcs like Wild Beasts and XX Teens will be proving they've got what it takes to perform with the big boys too. In addition to these there'll be a veritable feast of other live acts so expect the brilliantly unexpected.
Tickets
There's a selection of paid for gigs as well as freee gigs so if you're quick, even those without many pennies in their pockets will be able to see some quality acts. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday 17th September. Tickets for the paid for gigs will also go on sale at this time and can be purchased through the Electric Proms website:

John Peel night
2006 and 2007 saw a special night devoted to legendary radio presenter and music aficionado John Peel who was remembered during a night of live music. In 2008 you can expect his musical legacy to live on with another John Peel night that takes place all over Camden, with more up and coming bands being championed at this year's Electric Proms.

Last year's Electric Proms highlights
Highlight from last years superb event saw Kaiser Chiefs play with David Arnold, and Mark Ronson perform with the BBC Concert Orchestra, both of which were amazing shows with completely different musical styles. For something completely different Bloc Party rocked out at the Roundhouse, and Sigur Ros enjoyed a premiere of Heima at the 2007 Electric Proms.

Film screenings
A programme of free film screenings will be taking place throughout the festival, adding an extra element to proceedings alongside the live music. Expect a diverse array of new music features, shorts and promos, exploring everything from rock to grime.
