Elephant Parade at Westfield London

The Elephant Parade at Westfield London is the culmination of the model elephant art exhibition which has taken over the city for the past month or so. Displaying 18 of the elephants which made up the biggest outdoor art exhibition London has ever seen, the herd are now taking up residence at the shopping centre.

London streets have been home for the colourful elephants throughout May and June, and now for the last week of their exhibition they are bringing their herd to the enormous shopping centre, renowned for its prestigious shops and eateries. Taking over the Atrium, which regularly hosts stunning exhibitions and events, this is your last chance to see the elephants on their tour of the city.

Designer creations
The life size baby elephants have been the talk of the town since they appeared back in May, with their vivid colours and striking designs. And no wonder since they have been created by a variety of designers, artists and creatives. Included in the Elephant Parade at Westfield London are models designed by the likes of Jack Vettriano, Marc Quinn, Matthew Williamson and SHO Fine Jewellery.

Asian elephant
The reason behind the creation of the Elephant Parade London event is to raise awareness of the plight of the Asian elephant, whose population has shrunk by over 90 percent in the last century. As the elephants make their last stand at Westfield London, visitors can take the chance to get up close and personal with them, and even have their photos taken with the beautifully coloured creatures, before they end up at the Royal Chelsea Hospital for auctioning.

The Elephant Parade at Westfield London takes place from Monday 21st June - Wednesday 30th June 2010. Entrance is free.
