England World Cup Poll Results
With the England squad chosen and packed off to Germany it’s time to start crossing those fingers for the World Cup 2006. However, 40 years after England last took home the coveted trophy confidence in the 2006 squad isn’t quite as high as it could be, according to the latest England World Cup poll results. Here’s hoping the boys can prove the doubters wrong.
Going for glory
Almost 70% of those surveyed agree that there is little to no chance of England bringing home the World Cup this year. Despite the fact that Sven’s squad is one of the strongest England has seen in many years, the possible absence of star striker Wayne Rooney looks to be putting a dampener on our hopes. That said, Rooney has been called up for the team and may well be fit enough to play in crucial matches.
Walcott all the way
He’s the man (well, boy) of the moment and he’s set to have the summer of a lifetime in Germany, but Viewlondon readers are undecided as to whether or not Arsenal’s Theo Walcott should be on the England squad at all. In total, 54% of those surveyed think that taking Walcott to Germany is a shrewd move from Sven, but 46% doubt that the 17 year old is ready. It might not be the most reassuring news that Walcott has never played a Premiership game, though he does have experience as an England youth.
If you’re an England fan, whether you agree with our England World Cup Poll Results or not, there’s no doubt you will be rooting for the boys during the World Cup. The FIFA 2006 World Cup kicks off in June, with England’s first match against Paraguay on Saturday 10th June. For further World Cup information and events
