Throughout the week a series of one act ballets are set to be showcased at the Soutbank Centre. From a glamorous celebration of the daily ballet class to the inventive and fast moving dance showcase, these English National Ballet shows are exciting, innovative and compelling. Taking place all week, the showcase of talent ends with a performance from the English National Ballet School, with students from the first three years of the school demonstrating their breathtaking talent.

Along with the different peformances from the English National Ballet, there is also a chance to see the dancers behind the scenes with ballet classes on three separate days. You can observe the English National Ballet rehearsing for their forthcoming performances, and really appreciate the skill with which they dance. The rehearsal classes take palce at 11am on Wednesday 2nd, 11am oon Thursday 3rd and 3pm on Friday 4th July.

You can also observe an English National Ballet masterclass on Thursday 3rd July at 4:30pm as the students are put through their paces, and there is also the chance to gain more insight into their performances with a free talk also on Thursday 3rd July at 6:15pm. Here Jane Pritchard will discuss the works performed by the ballet company and shed light onto the evening's show.

Saturday 5th July is a day to take to the stage yourself as the company invite you to join the English National Ballet at Southbank Centre for some ballet perfomance of your own. The National Youth Dance Festival session is for 14 to 21 year olds only, but is free to enter and takes place at 1:30pm. For those with no previous experience and of any age, there is the Ballet Bash at 5:15pm where you can try out ballet moves and see just how much hard work it is looking graceful!

The final show of the weekend is the English National Ballet Summertime project. The event showcases the performances of dancers from 12 different schools as they dance in different styles to the classic Gershwin song.
