Ernesto Neto at Hayward Gallery

An exhibition by Ernesto Neto at Hayward Gallery takes place this summer as part of the Festival Brazil series of events taking place at the Southbank Centre. Taking over the upper galleries and the outdoor sculpture terraces, the installation by Ernesto Neto at Hayward Gallery is certain to be one of the biggest and most impressive exhibitions of 2010.

Hayward Gallery has been closed for a refurbishment in the early part of the year, and will reopen with spectacular aplomb as the Ernesto Neto opens to the public. One of the largest and most ambitious exhibitions by the Brazilian artist in the UK, the shows sees installations and site specific pieces taking up position in and around the gallery.

Sensory exhibitions
Renowned for his work with unusual textiles and immersive structures, the exhibition by Ernesto Neto at Hayward Gallery is crammed full of interactive structures that invite visitors to wander in, through and around the show to develop a sense of spatial and social awareness as they go. Through interaction with your surroundings and each other, you will become immersed in a labyrith-like blend of sculpture and architecture.

Another level
Many pieces from previous exhibitions by Ernesto Neto have included spices, plastic balls and cushions that allow the viewer to interact with the sculptures in a much more personal way. By enhancing the way in which visitors experience the artworks, Neto has become a hugely influential figure in the artworld, giving inspiration to many up and coming artists. Along with his the more sensory elements of the exhibition by Ernesto Neto at Hayward Gallery, you can also see one of his large scale steel sculptures which is on show for the first time in London.

New Decor
Alongside the major show by Ernesto Neto at Hayward Gallery, fans of his unusual style can also enjoy his work in the New Decor exhibition which takes place at the same time, in the lower galleries. Featuring 30 contemporary artists who use the notion of interior designs to push the boundaries of art and culture, New Decor is the perfect accompaniment exhibition to the work by Ernesto Neto upstairs.
