With both well established acts and exciting up and coming talent from across the continent, the Europe stage at Somerset House sees the beautiful and historic venue open its doors for a weekend of free gigs and concerts in the countdown to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Free music
Part of the BT River of Music festival which sees six stages set up along the Thames to celebrate the very best in music from around the world, the Europe stage at Somerset House is bound to attract music fans of every ilk as bands and musicians from a variety of European countries perform live. Also flying the banner for European music is the stage at Trafalgar Square, while stages at Battersea Park, the London Pleasure Gardens, the Tower of London and the Old Royal Naval College showcase the music of Asia, Africa, the Americas and Oceana respectively.

Taking place on the weekend before the London 2012 Olympic Games officially opens, the Europe stage at Somerset House welcomes all nationalities to enjoy a series of free gigs, unusual collaborations and established musicians from a variety of European nations. Somerset House has long been a popular destination for music lovers thanks to its Summer Series concerts held outside in the 18th century courtyard, which last year starred the likes of Professor Green, Beady Eye, Eels and Blondie; in 2012, fans can expect even more in the way of enticing gigs thanks to the free River of Music event.
