The ViewLondon Review
Not content with living in one of the most prestigious areas of London, Hampstead residents now have the new Club Suites at the Everyman Cinema to smile smugly about.
Less fortunate folk across the capital would be well advised to take a trip to Hampstead for their next film fix. The Club Suites at the Everyman Cinema offer a cinematic experience set within the lap of luxury. Stretch out on sofas for two (complete with footstool) and sip from glasses of wine served from your own personal wine cooler, whilst nibbling daintily from individual bowls of cashew, pistachio and mixed nuts.
The period features which have been retained in the screening rooms, lend a decadent air to a night at the cinema. The Club Suites themselves are dimly lit by candlelight and make up the two separate outer aisles adding a further touch of intimacy to your sofa for two.
As this is not a gigantic, pack ‘em in, monolith of a cinema the only criticism that could be levelled at the Everyman Cinema is that the standard seats don’t have much provision for juggling drinks and snacks (no supersize bags of popcorn and trays of nachos here); although your waistline may well thank you for it.
A selection of arthouse and mainstream films plus regular seasons and cinematic ‘firsts’ make for compulsive viewing but it is not the Everyman Cinema’s only appeal. The bar and café housed within the cinema are easily destinations in their own right. Accompanied by the friendly charm of the staff and their ability to make you feel like a regular even if it is your first visit, it is no wonder that the Everyman Cinema has become such a fixture in social diaries across London.
