Head to the 2012 Exhibition Road Music Day for a series of free concerts and gigs hosted by the venerable museums and galleries of the local area.

A day of free music
From the Royal Geographical Society to the Natural History Museum and the V&A to the Science Museum, there are plenty of institutions offering a range of exciting live music sessions for the Exhibition Road Music Day festival. Fans of every musical genre from soul and gypsy jazz to classical and grime will be able to find something to keep them happy at the free one day festival.

Festival highlights
Highlights of the 2012 Exhibition Road Music Day include live gigs from French soul sensation Imany and the ever popular Ska Cubano, as well as the world premiere of Live and Roar featuring Booker Prize winning author DBC Pierre at the Natural History Museum. Many live acts will be taking to the outdoor stage in Kensington Gardens, with many more performances also taking place within the museums and galleries that line Exhibition Road.

Musical workshops
Kids and adults of all ages can get involved with a series of workshops for Exhibition Road Music Day, with the Science Museum holding a series of interactive sessions where families can create their own music. Meanwhile, the Royal Geographical Society is hosting a day of geography themed musical activities, and the Royal College of Music is hosting a day of free Indonesian gamelan workshops.

Gigs and concerts
Other stand out events of the day include a special performance by beatboxer Jason Singh on the Kensington Gardens stage, as well as Congolese and Latin music from Grupo Lokito. Fans of English folk can catch Martin Ledner at the Natural History Museum, while all female a cappella group Imperielles will be performing at Imperial College London.

2012 venues
More than 100 artists will be performing at the 2012 Music Day festival, giving music fans of all tastes and ages something to enjoy. Alongside the Kensington Gardens stage, there will also be performances at the following venues:

The V&A
