The ViewLondon Review

Review byChris Jackson-Jones25/06/2008
Class acts, attention to detail, and a sound system loud enough to blow you to pieces. Recently voted the world’s best club by the globe’s finest DJs, fabric can’t put a foot wrong.

The Venue
Set in the basement of a Victorian meat market, the building is outstanding. The decor comprises of stonewalls, marble bar tops and leather seats, producing a club that you instantly warm to. fabric can be a maze at the best of times, with the wide stairwells often moonlighting as a place to rest, but it won’t be long before you’re itching to return to one of the three blisteringly loud rooms.

Room One hosts the headliners with a ground level booth and a good sized live stage, which doubles as raised floor space when the DJs take control. The soundsystem is outrageous and in a class of its own, with the bodysonic dancefloor pulsing the bass through the foundations. Not for the faint hearted, it's certain to send more than a few shivers down your spine.

The Atmosphere
Passionate regulars of fabric combined with DJs who really work the crowd conjure an electric atmosphere rendering you glued to dancefloor, even when you’re desperate for a visit to the ultra-modern, unisex toilets. The people are cool, the venue is outstanding and the music is top draw every night. Nowhere in London comes close to matching the vibe that fabric produces.

The Music
The billing never disappoints, with a list of clubland’s finest bringing you choice cuts in drum n bass, break beat and house to sort your weekly clubbing fix. Only the best get to showcase here, so rest assured that you’ll be dancing all night long with each act trying to prove their worth on one of dance music’s most prolific stages.

The Drink
Prices are surprisingly good, with bottled water being the only exception. A good variety of beers and spirits are on offer, but keep a close eye on your drinks as unattended beverages get swiped away by the super efficient staff.

The Last Word
Pick the right night and it will be one to remember. Beware of the queues, but believe the hype, fabric is in a class of its own.
