Want to see London shop a little bit greener? Thanks to Fairtrade Fortnight, a two week long celebration of everything Fairtrade, you’ll be able to get more access to fair trade products and help make a difference in the developing world.
Fairtrade Fortnight London
This campaign, developed by the Fairtrade Foundation, aims to show just how easy it is to start buying fair trade products and helping out people in developing nations. Last year around 12,000 events for the campaign were held all around London and the UK, with everything from fashion shows to football matches to concerts and exhibitions, and this year promises to be even bigger.
Find fairtrade products
Think Fairtrade is only limited to teas and chocolates? Think again. Fairtrade food includes everything from tropical fruits to quinoa, rice and beans as well as ice cream, biscuits, jams and nuts. Also available are fair trade wine and beer, baby food, sugar body scrubs, sports balls and cotton products.
Fairtrade markets
Proving that fashion can be Fairtrade too, the Cotton on to Fairtrade event at Brent Town Hall features fashion photography, African and Caribbean food, retail stalls and a short film screening featuring St Steve Redgrave's visit to the Fairtrade cotton producers of Mali. The event starts 5pm, Thursday 3rd March. Admission is free.
