The Film 4 Fright Fest is back once again, now in it's ninth year to fill your week with scary, gory, horrific and frightening films. With several premieres and some fantastic horror flicks form all over the world to sink your teeth into, the Film 4 Fright Fest is set to be a full on festival of gore.
Held over the August Bank Holiday, the Film 4 Fright Fest is the perfect end to the summer. With loads of fantastically scary films and some of the best classic horror movies ever to have been made on the big screen, you will be spoilt for choice. Whether it's zombies, knife wielding maniacs, monsters, ghosts, vampires, spooky murderous children or just plain old cannibals, there is something horrific and heart stoppingly unpleasant for everyone.
And it's not just your average blood and gore that will be screening during the Film 4 festival. You can also expect animations, sci fi and short films too. There's even a comedy take on people with more than their fair share of sexual organs that take over the body, and woman who gives birth to mutant babies only two hours after having sex. Fright Fest really does have the weirdest and most peculiar horror films going.
Films from all over the world are screening at the Odeon West End during the 2008 festival, including contributions from America, Scotland, Japan, Spain and South Korea. Eden Lake is set to be on the most controversial films from the UK in 2008 as it takes a closer look at hoodie horror; The Broken comes from France with a Hitchcockian take on Edgar Allan Poe style supernatural doubles; Danish horror The Substitute follows the tale of several children and their evil out space teacher who is desperate for love; and Manhunt is the Norweigian contribution to the Fright Fest with a classic hitchhiker plotline.
Still not satisfied by all the blood and guts? The final day of the festival sees four great films, and the Film 4 Fright Fest shorts showcase. Here you can enjoy some fantastic horror shorts, with the likes of Neon Killer, a legendary and sadistic killer; The Flea, where a vampire hunter wants to stake just one more victim; a house full of very dark secrets in The Incursion; and an amusing medley of sleaze, horror, gothic plots and humour with Horrorshow.
