Film 4 Summer Screen

Taking over the big screen at Somerset House again for July and August 2009, the Film 4 Summer Screen series brings a variety of classics and brand new films to audiences in the capital. The enormous open air screen takes up the whole of the fountain square in front of the Somerset House facade, and shows an inspired range of movies, with something to please everyone.

Open air cinema
Sitting out in the open air and enjoying a flick is a real treat on a hot summers night. Incorporating surround sound and 35 mm projection, the films are brought to you as vividly as if you were in a state of the art cinema, but you get the benefit of the stars above you and the breeze on your face too.

Programme highlights
With a screening of everybody's favourite British film of recent years, Slumdog Millionaire, as well as double bills of Alien and Poltergeist, this year's Film 4 Summer Screen series provides film fans with the ideal way to spend their summer nights. Tickets for the screenings cost £12.50 for a single showing, but the double bills on Fridays, cost just £16.00. And it's not just films that you can enjoy during the Film 4 summer screenings - DJs will be playing some of the best in new music from 7:30pm, with the film itself showing at 9:15pm.
