The ViewLondon Review
Fire offers an alluring combination of sexiness and excitement. A major player in Vauxhall, and indeed across London’s clubland.
The Venue
Located in the heart of Vauxhall, Fire stands out as a premiere after hours nightclub. It’s no wonder it’s made such a name for itself with a top of the range light and sound system, LED floor and ceiling lights, six arched rooms and an outdoors chill out area. Do not expect vast spaces, however, as the rooms are intimate with low ceilings. You can also guarantee that the dance floor in the main room is never empty.
Mirror Arch with its hidden seating has real charm. Fire Lounge is resplendent with chandeliers, a piano and swathes of red, reminiscent of Dracula’s castle. Curfew offers intimacy and privacy whilst the New Room has raw vibe to it with its brick wall interior. The latest addition to the venue is a club in its own right – Lightbox, renowned for its impressive light displays.
The Atmosphere
Although primarily a heavy-going gay club, Fire is open to anyone and everyone. The ambience is mysterious and alluring. It’s smoky with lasers spiralling overhead. Figures of clubbers appear and disappear in a wisp of smoke, seemingly in perfect harmony with the beat of music.
This club offers complete freedom from stereotypes and judgment. And that is what draws the after hours, hedonistic clubbers in.
The Music
Expect some of the biggest DJs on the London and international scene, including the Sharp Boys, Steve Pitron, Paul Martin, Terry Bryan, D’Johnny, plus regular special guests playing the biggest tunes in house and funk.
Fire starts the weekend on a Thursday night branded Gravity, with some filthy twisted tunes. Then clubbers get ready for Friday night for the 12-hour session AM with upfront funky house. Expect surprises during the course of the night such as ice cream, confetti, bubbles and fancy dress dancers. Saturday is either Juicy or Horizon. Juicy, as the name indicates, offers a crowd of shirtless men.
Not ready to quit on Sunday morning? Later is your answer. And to finish off the weekend with style, you have to experience Monday morning madness with Orange and its delicious sounds.
The Drink
You will not go bankrupt with a shot of any spirit (Jack Daniels, Bacardi, Malibu) priced at £4 and a mixer for as little as 50p. A bottle of Stella can be purchased for £4. If you prefer canned beer, even better for your wallet as cans of Stella are only £3. Energy drinks go for £3 with vodka for £6.50. They even sell wine for £4-£6.50 a glass.
The Last Word
Fire deserves its reputation of being Vauxhall’s hottest nightspot. With so many mind blowing nights to choose from, you can’t go wrong. If you're a fan of all night hardcore dancing there is no better place south of the river.
