The ViewLondon Review
Fire isn’t for the faint-hearted or anyone seeking a relaxed night with friends – get your dancing shoes on and visit the most full on gay venue in Vauxhall! The VenueFire is yards from Vauxhall tube and rail stations on the South Lambeth Road, and was at the forefront of the reinvention of Vauxhall a few years ago as the capital’s gay after-hours destination.
The vast venue has four entrances, several cloakrooms, and is divided into four rooms since the opening of the Lightbox, which boasts a unique LED lighting system. The fame of this club was born out of its state-of-the-art sound and light systems, unrivalled in London, and it continually works to stay at the forefront in these areas.
The AtmosphereThe party revellers at Fire are out for a good time, and are hardcore in their pursuit of it. Many of the revellers at midday on a Monday will have been dancing since Friday, and are at their happiest with drink in hand, muscles and chests on display, up on the podium. The bar staff compliment the friendly mood with chatty and cheerful service, though there’s often a fight to get to the bar when this club gets crowded.
The MusicThe only thing that Fire can claim to be better known for than its sound and lighting setup is its music. They run various different nights throughout the week, and is best known for feel-good funky house and the latest electro sounds, played by an impressive roster of DJs such as The Sharp Boys, Steve Pitron and David Jiminez.
The DrinkThe club is typically priced for an after hours club in London, with vodka mixers from about £5. You’ll need to be forceful to get hold of one though, and push your way through the packed club to get to the front of the queue at the bar.
The Last WordThe music and stunning LED light show may be the only things you remember when your night’s over, but Fire is the best gay club London has to offer if you’re into staying up and on the dancefloor all night and all day long!
