The world’s most passionate form of dance comes to the capital for the 9th annual Flamenco Festival London. Flamenco Festival London 2012
The shows feature artists from across Spain and all over the world in performances featuring music, singing, dancing and plenty of drama and passion. There will be traditional dances as well as choreography done especially for the festival, all guaranteed to excite and entice all your senses.

Federico Garcia Lorca
To mark the 75th anniversary of Frederico Garcia Lorca's death, the 2012 Flamenco Festival London is hosting a special gala to celebrate the life and work of the iconic Spanish dramatist and poet. A high profile figure in the avant garde Generation of '27 movement, Garcia Lorca is believed to have been assassinated by an anti-communist death squad at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936, and has since been regarded as one of the most influential poets of the 20th century.

Live performances
As well as the Flamenco Gala to celebrate the life and art of Garcia Lorca, other highlights of the 2012 Flamenco Festival London include a performance by the Latin Grammy Award winning Vincente Amigo, one of the most accomplished flamenco guitarists in the world. Gypsy flamenco dancer Manuela Carrasco is also making a welcome return to London to present her powerful and pared back show, Suspiro Flamenco, which promises to be both the perfect way to hear flamenco for the first time and a real treat for established lovers of the song and dance genre.

Flamenco music at the festival
More flamenco talent comes to the fore at Sadlers Wells with the fast footwork Olga Pericet, who fuses traditional flamenco with Spanish classical and contemporary dance. Celebrated flamenco guitar musician Gerardo Nunez will also be performing at the Flamenco Festival in a show that also features the talents of renowned gypsy dancer Carmen Cortes.
