Ten years of Flamenco in London
Last years festival saw the 75th year of Frederico Garcia Lorca's death, and the 2012 Flamenco Festival London hosted a special gala to celebrate the life and work of the iconic Spanish dramatist and poet. A high profile figure in the avant garde Generation of '27 movement, Garcia Lorca is believed to have been assassinated by an anti-communist death squad at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936, and has since been regarded as one of the most influential poets of the 20th century. 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of the festival and in honour of this, the event is featuring eight productions in the main house and another two in the Lilian Baylos Studio.

Live performances
Other highlights of the 2013 Flamenco Festival London include a performance by the Multi-award winning Eva Yerbabuena, one of the most accomplished flamenco dancers in the world. Gypsy Flamenco dancer, Farruquito, is also making a welcome return to London to present his powerful show, Abolengo, which promises to be the perfect way to experience flamenco for the first time and a real treat for established lovers of this dance genre.

Flamenco music at the festival
More flamenco talent comes to the fore at Sadlers Wells with the fast footwork of Israel Galván, who fuses traditional flamenco with contemporary dance. Celebrated flamenco guitar musician, Tomatito, will also be performing at the Flamenco Festival in a show that demonstrates his ability to fuse traditional flamenco with jazz.
