Food with Thought at Borough Market

A new event in the London Design Festival programme for 2009, Food with Thought at Borough Market showcases some of the most stylish contemporary interior products amongst the stalls at the popular produce market.

London Design Festival event
Combining the work of six design companies including loophouse, salt., Timorous Beasties, Kay + Stemmer, Tom Kirk Lighting and Tracy Kendall, Food with Thought at Borough Market displays specially designed textiles, rugs, furniture, wallpaper and lighting amongst the standard fare you'd expect to find at the famous market. Many of the exclusive pieces on show in the exhibition are made from found and recycled materials, and have been inspired by the environment around the market.

Exhibition highlights
Those with an eye for style will want to keep an eye out for the hanging lanterns designed by Tom Kirk which are inspired by the pots and traps traditionally used by fishermen, as well as the textiles by salt. and loophouse. Kay + Stemmer have also designed a colourful Tutti Frutti stool made from market palettes for the Food with Thought at Borough Market event.

Eco shoppers
Looking for a chic and unique eco shopper to hold all your market purchases? The six design companies taking part in the Food with Thought at Borough Market exhibition have each designed a cotton eco shopper, which will be available to buy at the market throughout the event. The eco shopper bag designed by Kay + Stemmer features a blueprint for making your own DIY stool, based on the Tutti Frutti creation.

Food with Thought at Borough Market runs from Thursday 17th Septmber - Sunday 27th September 2009. Admission is free.
