See some outdoor films for free courtesy of the National Theatre. As part of their Watch This Space festival's series of free alfresco performances, the National Theatre will be broadcasting films from the BFI Archive onto their Flytower.

Free films
Catch free films from the BFI Archive as the National Theatre screens a selection of films onto their Flytower – that big square building off to the side of the theatre. Films due to be screened include 10 shorts on the subject of British coal mining, and shorts that chart the ever changing architecture of the South Bank over the past 50 years.

Night Mail
Also being projected onto the Flytower include a series of GPO films by the likes of WH Auden and Benjamin Britten, including the much loved Night Mail from 1936 as well as Coal Face, God's Chillun and The Tocher. Film fans can also see series such as The Big Smoke - Films from a Lost London, 1896 - 1945, and Britain at Bay: Peace and War, 1937 - 1940.

Watch This Space
The free films are being screened as part of Watch This Space, the theatre’s summer-long festival of outdoor events that include circus performances, aerial acrobatics, comedy, live music and dancing. Outdoor theatre performances are also planned, so pull up a patch of Astroturf and get a dose of culture in the sun.
