Hosted by Red Bull, the free running event at National Theatre gives you the chance to see parkour moves, urban acrobatics and jaw dropping stunts, all for free.

Urban sport
Combining graceful parkour moves with acrobatic jumps and athletic flips and spins, free running is one of the most dynamic modern sports around, and the free running event at National Theatre is bound to be popular with the discipline's legion of fans. Perfectly suited to the built up urban environment, free running has been steadily growing in popularity of late, especially since it was brought to the attention of a wider audience after featuring in films such as Prince of Persia and Casino Royale.

Free running event
The National Theatre is particularly suited to host the Red Bull competition, due to its brutalist architecture which features sharp angles, interlocking terraces and many different levels. The free running contest will take place on a specially designed course set up outside the National Theatre for the one day event.

Red Bull contest
Titled the Art of Motion, the Red Bull free running event at National Theatre is bound to be popular with kids, families and parkour fans of all ages. The opening round of the competition sees the free runners take to the course for 80 second stints, putting in as many jumps, spins, flips and other stunts to impress the judges and the audience along the way.

Ryan Doyle
After the initial round, the panel of four judges will select the 12 best performing athletes to go through to the next round, before choosing a final winner. Eight free runners from the UK are taking part in the Red Bull competition, including the acclaimed Ryan Doyle from Liverpool.

The free running event at National Theatre starts 6pm, Sunday 20th March 2011. Admission is free.
