The Friday Night Skate is a free weekly skate in London which is for all Londoners who love a bit of fresh air and love to skate. See the city from a different perspective as you skate from Hyde Park Corner on a two hour course with a group of like minded skaters.
Get your skates on
The whole of the Friday night skate lasts for 10 to 12 miles, and takes about two hours, returning back to the Arch at 10pm. With a different route each week, the Friday night skate is a great way to see different aspects of London in the evening and watch the seasons change, all while getting some great exercise.
Different abilities
With two skating ability routes, blue for intermediates and black for advanced, the Friday night skate is a fun, fast and brilliantly active outdoor sporting event. To complete the blue route, you must be able to effectively stop, turn and skate at a medium pace. For the black route, you must be able to do that plus skate fast and have good stamina.
Year round event
Taking place every Friday throughout the year, the Friday night skate is an unbelievable experience. With hundreds of regulars and new skaters getting involved all the time, the night has become a great one for both exercise and sociability between skaters. To add to the party atmosphere, there is music too!
Ready, set, go
To ensure that you are a good enough skater to take part, make sure that you can complete all the manoeuvres required for the Blue route and that you are comfortable skating down hills and on varying road surfaces.
Up to date information
The Friday night skating event will take place in most weathers. To be kept up to date with the weather and the weekly route changes you can register for the FNS dispatch by clicking on the link below.

Please note that you must bring your own skates. Elbow, knee pads and a helmet are recommended, plus liquid refreshment to ward off dehydration. Whilst on the skate, you must not pass the marshalls wearing yellow and red vests that mark the beginning and the end of the skate line. There will be a 15 minute half time somewhere on both Friday night skating routes.
The Friday Night Skate starts at 8pm on most Fridays throughout the year, weather permitting. The meeting point is at the Duck of Wellington Arch, hyde Park Corner.
