There will also be site specific works from some of the most acclaimed artists in the world, right here in London. So if you’d like to see their work, and the work of 150 of their contemporaries, pick up some Frieze Art Fair tickets and head to Regents Park.
A varied selection
The Frieze Art Fair is split into different sections, with the first being the Frieze Projects. These are a range of commissions in which eleven artists create site specific art especially for the Frieze Art Fair. Although the line up for 2009 is yet to be confirmed, exhibitors for last year’s fair include Cory Arcangel, Pavel Buchler, Ceal Floyer and Tue Greenfort. This section of the Frieze Art Fair also included the specially commissioned work by Wilfredo Prieto, enabling art fans to see a legend of the art world.
Yoko Ono
Testament to Frieze Art Fair's reputation of being at the forefront of the contemporary art world, the 2009 event saw musician and artist Yoko Ono speak at the fair. Ono spoke on how performance art and an engagement with audiences is so important to art, so art fans were able to enjoy a fascinating speech from an acclaimed performer and artist. The Frieze Art Fair also featured talks from some of the most well respected names on the scene, including Carol Yinghai Lu, Boris Groys, Roger Cook and Jennifer Allen, discussing aesthetics, ethics, culture and more.
Frieze films
The Frieze Art Fair also featured a film section, with the 2008 fair showcasing Frieze Film 2008: Road Movie, a film created by film makers and artists based on the videos on YouTube. Based loosely on Cormac McCarthy’s 2006 novel The Road, the film uses the road movie genre as its inspiration.
Pick up tickets
Frieze Art Fair tickets will also enable you to see some of the most imaginative and experimental music and although the events are yet to be confirmed for 2009, it should be an impressive feature once again. In addition, the Frieze Art Fair will have plenty of educational fixtures so you’ll be able to get the old grey matter going even more.
